A-T Solutions provides a 5-day course for EOD personnel only that builds on basic permissive post-blast investigation (PBI) concepts that EOD soldiers can effectively adapt, on the basis of mission, enemy, terrain and weather, troops and support available, time available, civil considerations (METT-TC), during combat PBI missions. EOD students learn and apply knowledge about how to streamline and prioritize basic PBI techniques to reduce "time on target" limitations found in combat operations.
Upon completion of the PBI course, students will be able to:
- State the purpose of the Tactical Post-Blast Analysis course
- Analyze the effects of an explosive event and how it pertains to a tactical post blast
- Determine the types of forensic analysis and the importance of proper collection of each type of evidence
- State the procedures for evidence handling and collection requirements
- Recognize proper post-blast analysis procedures in a combat environment
- Determine where the majority of evidence will be located at a blast scene
- Determine the procedures for developing a report and briefing a completed post-blast analysis in the current, theater-specific format
- Identify key electronic and IED components in a pre- and post-detonation condition
- Explain the procedures for packaging and labeling evidence collected on the battlefield
- Evaluate the steps used during field analysis of fragmentation from a post-blast
- Demonstrate the reporting and briefing procedures for a completed post-blast analysis in the current, theater-specific format
